PT100 3-Wire Platinum Resistive Waterproof Heat Temperature Sensor Probe
The PT100 Platinum RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) is a highly accurate and stable temperature sensor, known for its ability to change resistance with temperature changes. This feature makes it more reliable and sensitive compared to typical NTC/PTC thermistors. Due to its stability, PT100 sensors are widely used in industrial processes and laboratory applications for precise temperature measurement.
This high-temperature PT100 sensor is equipped with a stainless steel shield, making it suitable for temperature measurements from -50°C to 280°C.
PT100 Features
- Measures temperature based on resistance changes in a platinum element.
- Uses platinum with a resistance of 100 ohms at 0°C, hence the name PT100.
- Platinum’s positive temperature coefficient increases resistance as temperature rises.
- Nominal resistance change of 0.385 Ω/°C.
- Offers higher accuracy and stability compared to thermocouples, silicon-based sensors, or thermistors.
Sensor Wiring
Each sensor comes with three wires:
- Two wires connect to either side of the platinum resistance.
- The third wire also connects to one side of the PT100 element.
If your RTD amplifier supports 3-wire sensors, it will measure voltage drops accurately by canceling out resistance caused by the wires. If using a 2-wire configuration, leave the third wire unconnected.
